In my life, accountability was used as a way to control another's behavior. This model is different because it's rooted in embodied restorative healing, and now I use it in my own consultation work both with individuals and with groups. Both white-bodied folx and melanated folx have expressed appreciation for the clear steps, for the intentional connection between mind and body, and for the purposeful slowing down to ensure repair is the centered focus. I am hopeful as this process for accountability is shared, folx will feel more seen, heard, valued, and connected in our journeys toward liberation together.

The 5 Fingers of Accountability workshop has been so impactful for me. As a white equity leader, I make mistakes frequently. This tool has taught me how to replace my white fragility with accountability. It’s such a relief to know that when I make a mistake, I have the tools to reckon with and repair damaged connections, keep growing, and push forward toward a more just world.
Because mistakes and hurt feelings seem like an inevitable part of life, “5 Fingers of Accountability” has become a sacred practice. This model tends to my heart and helps me see where I need to grow, which leads to an apology that isn’t just spoken, but is also deeply felt—one with the potential to repair, heal, and further bond.
